Wisdom

James 1:5 says
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God,
who gives generously to all without finding fault,
and it will be given to him.
1 Corinthians 3:19 also says
the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight.
So pleas follow the instrutions the Lord and listen to God's wisdom.

  1. Wisdom is a mixture of experience and knowledge combined. Often people think that being smart equals wisdom, but that's not the case. Wisdom is when life lessons and gained knowledge join together.
Being wise in our own eyes is something that we each need to guard against. The Bible says to humble ourselves and allow God to exalt us in due season.
Proverbs talks about the multiple benefits of God's wisdom verses man wisdom. I would encourage you to look up the word wisdom on Proverbs and make two columns: one for Godly wisdom and one for worldly wisdom. You'll find lots of great insight in God's Word on this topic.

  2. When asking for wisdom remember, "You don't even know what you don't know." So, ask for the Holy Spirit to lead you past your blind spots. Don't just ask for wisdom in areas you are aware of, ask for wisdom to be poured into your life like a flood. Read a chapter of Proverbs a day and you'll gain the wisdom of Kings. Learn how to apply that wisdom and you'll be a leader of leaders. All the wisdom in the world doesn't help the lazy fool unless he is willing to work at applying that wisdom.
